Archangels

Archangels ~ Did you know...

We all have knowledge of our Angels, Guardian Angels and Archangels.  Whether our differing faiths during our upbringing makes us believe in them is another matter.

Christians have 7 Archangels, Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, Uriel, Raguel, Sariel and Remiel, while the Islamic faith acknowledges four.

Note that their names all end in "el".  This is understandable as "el" means "shining light" in Hebrew.

In the Jewish faith Metatron is the greatest angel of all.  Angels, in general, are actually mentioned 300 times in the Bible.

Archangels are considered to be God's most important messengers in the hierachy of celestial beings.

Each archangel has a particular dominant area and far reaching energies that can be called upon when you want to undertake a particular task.

Archangel Michael ~ number one in the celestial hierachy ~ is the patron of protection and love.  When lacking vitality, excitement and love, calling on him invokes action if you are truly ready to face your fears, try something new.  He will protect and guide you as you move forward.

Archangel Gabriel ~ second in command, he governs the emotions.  Associated with water elements, he calms your doubts and if anxious he boosts your confidence.

Archangel Raphael ~ next in line, is in charge of healing.  Over body, mind and spirit, Raphael takes care of its energy.  He is related to the element of air and so will re-energise on a physical level, but will also boost your creativity.

Archangel Uriel ~ vibrates to ground us to the earth.  He is a multitasker.  Uriel is the patron of music.  He is also the messenger who brings warnings.  He is the archangel who greets you at the gates of heaven.

Archangel Raguel ~ he is law enforcement of the archangels, making sure all the others behave!  Call on him if you have unruly children and you wish them to behave.

Archangel Sariel ~ keeps everything in order.  He is the "housekeeper".  You can call on him if you wish for an orderly and non-chaotic life.

Archangel Remiel ~ is the Angel of hope.  As the angel whose path it is to greet us at death's door, escorting us to heaven, when he is present the vibrations of fear, stress and drama that accompany the facing of death, give way to peace and calm.

Archangel Michael

Archangel Michael's name means "Who is like God".  In Revelation 12:7 he is named as the Archangel who cast Satan out of heaven.

It is said that to bring Archangel Michael instantly to your side you should call loud:

Archangel Michael Help Me! Help Me! Help Me!

Another day .. Another Year

(Repost from 31 December 2013)

"Time waits for no man (or woman)"

A familiar which many of us are aware of but seldom appreciate as we continuously lose ourselves in the rat race of the today's manic world.

Christmas has come and gone ... Christmas lights and decorations are slowly being taken down. The obligatory excesses of drink, food and other luxuries are fast becoming a distant memory as we all look to the New Year ... with hope, expectation and perhaps uncertainty.
2013 has been an unusual year for me ... The first year without my Father ... Learning (and constantly failing!) to adjust my life and compensate for my (and my family's) loss.

I've chosen to commit to a permanent job and am even considering a career (?!?!?) with a large global corporation - an excuse perhaps at a more stable and settled lifestyle albeit with excessive travel across the UK and Europe!

I am about to become a Dad again for the third time ... And have this feeling of constant wonder and amazement often coupled with a strange sense of fear, doubt and self-loathing.

I'm hoping that as an older (forty-something) person ... Fatherhood will bring new joys and contentment as a much needed tonic to my internal dilemmas and surreal internal chatter.
Around me ... life goes on ...

Children are growing up (too fast, in my opinion) and I am left realising that soon I will be amongst the "older generation" responsible for guiding, mentoring and taking up the mantle from my elders who are (sadly) passing on from this world to the next life (depending on whatever you believe ofcourse). Guess I'm closing in on the next chapter of my being.

My faith is regularly being tested and I feel that I am moving away from "religion" and seeking something more personal; rapidly changing my perspective on what is deemed as "good" or "evil" or perhaps the grey matter in between ... I am noticing women more ... Women all around me appear more alluring ... the younger ones blossoming like flowers ... all (regardless of age) with potent feminine wiles and charms. Some .. like fine wine .. more fine with age, experience and self-awareness. Thank God I'm a man! Although, I too often become besotted by the many lovely women around me ... It must be an age thing ... I'm beginning to appreciate my mortality and genuinely want to be surrounded by beauties of all types ... Funny, I used to joke often about harems ... I dread the thought now ... Too much temptation! Life, oh wonderful life, how you tempt, test and delight me!
I am struggling with my identity ... As someone who is Anglo-Asian but born in East Africa ... I regularly question which community I belong to ... and constantly remind myself that my community is a global (not local) one ... I wonder how my children will be received and what allegiances they will maintain - be it people, culture, country, religion or other ...
Ultimately, we're all still quite tribal ... sticking to our own communities, friendship circles and cliques.

It's raining ... How weird ... When I was a child the seasons were naturally separate ... Now we really do experience several seasons in one day ... Bah Humbug! Why are we all so fixated on the weather!

Anyhow ... I look out the window .. watch the rain cleanse the outdoor space. It's a time for renewal ... a time for change ...

I look forward with anticipation ... With interest ... With hope. Bring on 2014!

Happy New Year (?!?!?!)

Purpose

This blog is dedicated to thoughts on spirituality, meditation and common themes relating to multiple faiths.
It is not intended to be about preaching any specific religion but rather an opportunity to share and exchange on matters which affect all of us – regardless of our race, ethnicity, religion or culture.
I’m interested in our global culture … the things that bind us as human beings regardless of borders and boundaries.
I’m interested in building bridges across communities and people … and exploring the lowest common denominators that occur to each and every one of us when we are on our own … with our own thoughts … without any distractions or influences or external opinions/voices affecting our individual psyche.

Let’s go back to basics … And remind ourselves of what it means to be human (man and woman – kind).
